/Why Letterpress, Why Pineapple Press & Design

    What is Letterpress?
Letterpress printing is the way everything was printed from the 1400s until the 1950s. Letterpress is a relief method of printing that leaves an impression on the paper. The depth of that impression is what draws so many people to the “feel” of letterpress. Today's printing methods cannot duplicate this impression and the imperfections that are inherent in letterpress printing.

We print all our projects on a Chandler & Price printing press that was made in the 1940s. We use metal and wood typefaces and hand mix all of our inks. These methods combine to create an imperfect — yet personal and hand-crafted feel to the piece.

    Letterpress Options
There are two different ways to letterpress your project. First, we can hand-set every letter using the type faces we have. Or, we can work with an image or design you already have and then have a die-cut made. The choice is up to you. Hand-set letterpressed projects are truly unique. However, your project will be limited to the fonts and images we have in-house. Die-cut letterpressed projects have more options available. Please note that any die cuts made remain the property of Pineapple Press & Design.

    Timing
The time it takes to create your items will depend on your requirements and the quantity printed. It usually takes 2–12 weeks.
